Wi-Fi problems are rarely caused by one thing. Poor channel planning, excessive transmit power, legacy data rates, sticky clients, misconfigured roaming, non-Wi-Fi interference, wired network issues and authentication delays can all look the same to a frustrated user. Guessing leads to expensive changes that do not fix the problem.
A structured approach
- Define the problem. Who is affected, where, when, on which devices and applications. A clear problem statement often narrows the cause considerably.
- Gather evidence. RF surveys, spectrum analysis, packet captures over the air and on the wire, and a review of controller or cloud configuration and logs.
- Isolate the cause. We separate RF problems from client behaviour, configuration and upstream network issues.
- Recommend and verify. Fixes are prioritised, and we can re-test after changes to confirm the problem has gone.
Independent of the kit
Because we do not sell hardware or licences, our only interest is finding the real cause. Sometimes that is a five-minute configuration change. Sometimes it is a design problem. Occasionally it is not the Wi-Fi at all, and we will tell you so with evidence.
